Overview

A 2D maze navigation game built for an AI course, comparing manual play against animated BFS/DFS pathfinding and a genetic-algorithm solver across two maze variants.

The Challenge

The course required not just implementing classic search algorithms, but visually demonstrating and comparing their exploration behavior and performance against an evolutionary approach.

The Solution

Built in Python with Pygame: manual arrow-key movement, animated DFS/BFS pathfinding with live visualization of the exploration frontier and solution path, and a genetic algorithm solver with visualized evolution across generations.

Outcome

A working comparison tool with a detailed PDF report analyzing performance differences between search strategies and the genetic algorithm across maze variants.
