Overview
An AI-powered legal aid platform designed to make Cameroonian law accessible to ordinary citizens, closing the access-to-justice gap with reliable legal information, practical tools, and connections to verified lawyers.
The Challenge
Legal aid organisations in Cameroon lacked a scalable way to give citizens accurate, jurisdiction-specific first-response legal guidance without requiring expensive lawyer time for every inquiry.
The Solution
Designed a full microservices architecture behind a Kong API gateway, with Traefik ingress handling TLS and a RabbitMQ event bus connecting per-service databases. Built the User Management Service (Django, JWT auth, Redis-backed OTP, 64 passing tests) and Document Service (Jinja2 templating, MinIO storage, bilingual legal document templates). Integrated RAG pipelines against ChromaDB and Qdrant vector stores through a dedicated Knowledge Base service for legal document retrieval.
Outcome
A working microservices suite with verified test coverage on its core auth service, bilingual document generation, and vector-search-backed legal guidance, built as co-founder alongside a small team.
